That's a new one on us.  I'll ask the VM Forum Team to comment. The police would not be impressed by this advice. Nor am I. The only possibly relevant advice is a report to "Action Fraud" but they don't investigate, just collate reports.

The Virgin Media Community Support update email notifications (for this thread only) since 16.43 this afternoon have gone to my spam folder!

It wouldn't surprise me at all.

Virgin Media are playing whack-a-mole here, when in reality you need to stop the moles getting into the tunnels in the first place.

The text string sysprem.com now triggers the spam filters and guess what the subject header contained; state of the art spam filtering this is not.

One point we seem to have missed in the initial flurry of irritation; Where did the list of e addresses that the sysprem spammers are using come from. It seemed to have started about a month ago so it would be interesting to know what other providers are likewise affected, if not then who's list has been hacked?

It would be interesting to know that but not really that helpful in stopping the flood of spam that people are seeing.

Once valid email addresses have become available to spammers, by whatever means, you cannot make them secret again.

Discard, dispose of, remove, delete.

Generally speaking you need use that option with care when you are creating filter rules, once an email has been discarded it's gone for good. You cannot recover it and you have no record you ever received it. Of course you might say that's ok in this case.Smiley Indifferent

Well, you got option to move to Delete folder, and you still got all the messages, i thought Discard meant, you dont even receive the message, its deleted at virgin server side ? so is that the case ?
