My wife's email has stopped working part way through the day she accesses via her phone. It is not working on phone, tablet or desktop. I have compared the settings to mine which is working fine. Hers just gives a " password required" box which contains the message "Server says " Authentication failed"" when the password is input it just returns the same message.

What error message does she get when she tries signing into her VM email account directly on the VM website https://mail2.virginmedia.com ? (Enter the email address and then the password when prompted.)
The answer to that will help identify what the problem is. When email apps fail to authenticate with the relevant email server they often report a password error even when the cause of the problem lies elsewhere.

Same message on all platforms. Sorted now though. Changed the password and about half an hour later it was ok.
