Problems sending email using a mail client

Hi,

If you're unable to send email through your mail client at the moment, and are receiving a message that says Authentication Credentials Invalid (VM300) could you please try changing your password for that address in My Virgin Media.

We're keen to see if this helps at all after we've carried out some work on the problem. Once you've updated the password, you'll need to update it in your mail client as well.

If the password change DOESN'T work, please post below to let us know. Please provide the following:

  • Error Message seen in your mail client
  • Timestamp of the error

If your issue isn't related to a password error when sending email, please post a new thread so the Forum Team can look into things for you.

As per the other thread yes. But the account there differs from the one I am using.

One very confused user.

Make that two 😉 When you logged in to my.virginmedia.com what did your login username end in - virginmedia.com or blueyonder.co.uk

Please don't post the full email address, just the domain.

Hi

have been following this thread as have had same problems with my ntlworld address.

I’ve changed the email password via my virgin media at 19:00hrs and this solved the send email problem on my iPhone but MS Outlook 2016 is still not syncing.

@priesto

Is it possible you could turn on Outlook logging as detailed in the thread I referenced earlier in order to confirm the exact error message?

@ ravenstar68

Update. Now ntlworld address is working but I have a separate virginmedia address that is not.

I have copied the code from the email log and changed the email and password lines as you instructed:

2019.06.17 20:57:28 SMTP (smtp.virginmedia.com): Authorizing to server
2019.06.17 20:57:28 SMTP (smtp.virginmedia.com): [tx] AUTH LOGIN
2019.06.17 20:57:28 SMTP (smtp.virginmedia.com): <rx> 334 VXNlcm5hbWU6
2019.06.17 20:57:28 SMTP (smtp.virginmedia.com): [tx] ??
2019.06.17 20:57:28 SMTP (smtp.virginmedia.com): <rx> 334 UGFzc3dvcmQ6
2019.06.17 20:57:28 SMTP (smtp.virginmedia.com): [tx] ??

Task cancelled: flags = 00000001

Hope I've done it right.

You're missing the results line.

After this bit:

2019.06.17 20:57:28 SMTP (smtp.virginmedia.com): <rx> 334 UGFzc3dvcmQ6
2019.06.17 20:57:28 SMTP (smtp.virginmedia.com): [tx] ??

There should be another rx line that has Virgin Media's response - either 235 OK or 5xx and some additional information.

So when you logged into my.virginmedia.com you used the blueyonder.co.uk address.  - If you go to the My Profile page - does it show that address?
