I cannot log into my email and have not been able to since last week.
I have followed the instructions but when it comes to resetting my password, it appears that my preferred (very secure) password is too long for the Virgin servers to cope with.
I really would prefer to use a longer password as I feel that the shorter ones are too easily compromised.
Who do i complain to in order to get this situation resolved?

Alas, you don’t.
The password length and complexity restrictions have been in place for some time and certainly won’t be changing anytime soon. As to why, well speculation would be that the current VM setup is a mixture of various companies and legacy systems and it simply isn’t viable to change them.
I’m afraid you are stuck with the password restrictions as they are.
