Outlook 365 - old emails

Hi,
I've just installed Outlook 365 after Office 2007 and now can't seem my old emails for my Virgin email.
I can see new ones but not the old ones.

Do you know why?

Is your Outlook 365 configured for POP or IMAP access?

Unless you've configured Outlook 365 to use your existing Outlook 2007 .pst file then a new, and empty .pst file would have been created.

See the instructions here:- https://www.msoutlook.info/question/700 to use your existing .pst file, which should contain all your legacy emails.

thanks for the quick reply. Much appreciated.

I have two .pst files. One modified today with my account in the name and one from 2008.

I think I have these settings. pop3.virginmedia.com

I'll take a look at that link.

I can see the old ones on the web browser. Can they not be pulled down?

Also, should we now be using Mail rather than Outlook on Windows 10?

Setting up Outlook for IMAP access instead of POP will synchronise all your emails from the server.

You may also have to do the following to ensure all your emails are available.

In VM Webmail

• select ☰ > Settings > ▸ Email
• scroll to the foot of the page and select Change IMAP subscriptions
• expand the folder view by selecting ▸ and repeat until all folders are visible, then check each folder is ticked
• select Save

As to using Mail rather than Outlook, that's a matter of choice.

I will give that a go.
In the meantime I found my old .pst file in a windows.old folder that must have been created for me.
I also had to install Windows 10
