I have noticed the sender is now asturiex but ow.ly is still in the body. can using discard in spam filter work to completely stop the spam in both spam folder and inbox?

Yes¹ but it would require the following changes as user filter rules only run against the Inbox:

  • select (located top right) and then Settings
  • select ▸ Email and then SPAM Settings
  • select Flag a message as SPAM but deliver to Inbox
  • create a filter rule positioned at the end of your filter rule list to move messages with a Subject containing the text <SPAM> to the Spam folder
tip: consider adding a Flag action to this rule to clearly identify it as the source of the move

―――
¹ there were posts on the forum of messages going directly to the Spam folder despite SPAM Settings to the contrary. If you experience this situation please post back here to the have the issue flagged to the forum team.

Re: Once again swamped with spam!

Surely by now the email team have had enough headers sent to you to actually take ACTION on the situation and not just monitor.
