No access to email all of a sudden, either by web or by outlook

It seems the last couple of days I can't access my email

That 0x800CCC0E from Microsoft (presumably Outlook) simple means that it cannot connect to the server but does not give the reason.

If you try signing into the email account directly on the VM Website from here https://mail.virginmedia.com the error message will be a lot more informative.

If it is the "Mailbox unavailable .......................try again in an hour" error you may be able to unlock the account yourself.

It seems like resetting the password did the trick. Never happened to me in the 20+ years I've been with ntl/virgin, but at least I'm back in.
