New Email to replace Virgin Net Email

Hi,

My husband had an account at our old home. He set up a Virgin.net email there in the 1990's. Our current VM account was set up by me at our new home, so he no longer has an account. Is it still possible to have extra VM Email accounts added to a current VM contract?

Hi there @Meteorman

Thank you so much for your post and welcome to the community forums, it's great to have you here.

I am very sorry to hear that you have faced an issue with a former email not being attached to the account. We would only be able to assign an email across from an account if the both accounts were in the same name.

Was the former account under your Husbands name and this current account in your own, or are the both under your or his name?

Hi Ashleigh,

The accounts were in different names so I understand his email can't be transferred. My real question comes from being able to generate new email accounts on an existing contract. In the early VM days you could have as many emails on a VM contract as you wanted. Now it looks like you can only have one. Is this correct or can we generate a new email on my contract. I can't see the option anymore.

I am not a VM employee but to respond to those specific points:

  1. If I recall correctly you could have up to 10 email accounts per broadband contract.
  2. That's not quite right. VM stopped issuing new email accounts in May 2022. Since then new VM customers have not had the option to have VM email accounts and existing customers cannot create new ones. But if you had 10 VM email accounts on your account in May 2022 you would still have them today. However, if you deleted one of them you could not create a replacement,

I would also suggest to @Meteorman  they strongly look at moving any VM email to another provider, preferably one that is not tied to any ISP, e.g. Gmail, Outlook etc.  It only takes a quick look at the EMail forum to guess where the VM email provision is heading ......
