Re: IMAP settings not working

final addition - what is odd is that if I use the mail2web.com website, I CAN access my emails - but cannot via outlook?  I would have assumed both use the imap details which is why it's odd!

Re: IMAP settings not working

You still haven't posted your error messages up.

Although they can look cryptic, the numbers in those messages can say a lot about the actual problem.

Re: IMAP settings not working

hadn't posted because I wasn't near outlook till now - full message is below (slightly altered to remove my email address as the forum won't like it being included)

Task 'Synchronizing subscribed folders for ###@virgin.net.' reported error (0x800CCC0E) : 'Outlook cannot synchronize subscribed folders for ###@virgin.net. Error: Cannot connect to the server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

Re: IMAP settings not working

So this isn't a password problem, this is a problem with the connection to the server itself.

Yet we know the server itself is working as you can use mail2web to retrieve your mail from it.  I also use imap.virginmedia.com for my blueyonder account and I'm not seeing any errors my end either.

Can you post a tracert to imap.virginmedia.com from your home connection?

Tim

Ouch - those latency times are really bad - Compare them to mine

I'm guessing that's a Superhub 2 or 2ac there.  Is that wired or wireless?

Re: IMAP settings not working

Wired -  and it's a super hub 2 - just in case, I've restarted the router and the computer, but sadly (predictably I suspect) it hasn't resolved it

Re: IMAP settings not working

Can you post your hub stats.  I'm really not happy with those latency times.  I think before we do anything else we need to get your connection sorted - that MIGHT fix your connection issues as well.

  1. Go to 192.168.0.1 - Don't log in
  2. Click Router Status
  3. Post the info from the following tabs
    • Downstream
    • Upstream
    • Network Status

Re: IMAP settings not working

Can you post your post RS levels again?

Looking at these:

Post RS Errors 6616 6565 6355 5435 4905 4367 4104 3924

They look far higher then I'd expect for having just booted.  Especially on a SH2.  It looks like you've got a noise problem there.  I want to see if they are increasing.

Power levels are good otherwise both on the downstream and upstream.
