Error getting network address for smtp.virginmedia.com

Philsp
Tuning in

For the past 24 hours, every attempt to send an e-mail via SMTP fails with the error:

"Error getting network address for smtp.virginmedia.com. Cause: host not found (11001)."

Anybody any idea how to fix this, or how to contact Virgin Media support without being trapped with their bradindead chatbot?

Just tried again and now it works! Presumably somebody at Virgin found the problem and fixed it.

Hi Philsp,

Thank you for taking the time to post on our forums 🙂
I am sorry you are having issues with your email. Can you give us some more info, what WebClient are you sending this from? Do you have the full error message?
Zoie

I'm not using a WebClient - I'm using an offline email agent called Eudora.

The full error message is pretty much what I quoted. The only other comment is "Resolving address for smtp.virginmedia.com".

I've tried pinging smtp.virginmedia.com and it seems to be there so I'm puzzled.

It was working fine up until Friday and I haven't changed anything at my end.
