I am not receiving emails from certain people who have sent them to my correct email.All others are arriving as normal.

In that case you need to check whether they have inadvertently been blacklisted or whether their emails are being diverted away from your inbox by filter rules in your webmail account.

Sign in to your webmail account from here https://mail2.virginmedia.com/  and follow steps 1 to 4. You will see the Blacklist option just below the Filter Rules option in the menu.

If there are any filter rules set up you should disable them and see if future incoming emails come through to your inbox.
