Emails not sending

My blue yonder email has just started saying email not sent incorrect username or password even though I had not altered anything. I have since changed password but same message comes up. I have gone into virgin website and sent emails with no issue

Re: Emails not sending

Hello

We need to know the error message I have taken this from another post to help you find the error.

"

Open a terminal and enter the following command after replacing jane.doe@virginmedia.com with your own email address:

curl -v -url "smtps://smtp.virginmedia.com" --user jane.doe@virginmedia.com

and when prompted enter your password.

If you successful authenticated yourself to the SMTP server you will see something similar to:

⋮
< 235 2.7.0 ... authentication succeeded
> HELP
< 214-2.0.0 This is cmsmtp ESMTP service help
214-2.0.0 This is cmsmtp ESMTP service help
< 214-2.0.0 To contact postmaster send email to postmaster@virginmedia.com.
214-2.0.0 To contact postmaster send email to postmaster@virginmedia.com.
< 214-2.0.0 For local information send email to Postmaster at your site.
214-2.0.0 For local information send email to Postmaster at your site.
< 214 2.0.0 end of HELP info
214 2.0.0 end of HELP info
* Connection #0 to host smtp.virginmedia.com left intact

however if not you will see:

⋮
< 535 5.7.8 Authentication Credentials Invalid (VM300)
* Closing connection 0
curl: (67) Login denied

What VM code do you see; in the example above it is VM300? Please do not be tempted to post more than the requested curl output as you will likely reveal your email address and password."

If you do get error VM305 then please follow https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Security-matters/Searching-for-Spambots-on-your-network/td-p/40...

You can check your listing yourself but there is no point requesting removal until you have found and deleted the spambot. https://www.spamhaus.org/query and type in your external IP you can gets this my typing "whats my ip" into google.

If you are running Hola VPN Free, then note But Hola Free VPN is anything but a VPN.

Regards Mike

Re: Emails not sending

@Cmat44

DJShadows advice is nothing to do with webmail.  The curl command he is using is used to test virginmeia's SMTP server.

Re: Emails not sending

@Cmat44

I've asked the mods to remove personal information from your post.

Normally I try to explain is that the only thing you should post is the line containing the VM error if present.

VM305 means that your public IP has been seen sending out spam by a third party.  You need to identify the source of that spam and clean it up.  Please read the post that Sololobo has linked.

Re: Emails not sending

I would go a step further and advise @Cmat44 to change their now disclosed password ASAP.

Re: Emails not sending

Hi, my issues are on my iPhone and ipad. I have no account on a laptop. Is there anything I can do on the phone/ipad to solve the issue?
