Email problems

Hi i have 2 problems.

1. I am unable to access my email from the vigin media website ( i have a blueyonder email address). I can access it fine using an email client for my phone and laptop

2. I set up a secondary email address for this account many years ago which i never used and thought i had deleted. Out of the blue i have started receiving loads of spam emails for this account and i dont know how to deactivate this account especially as i cant log on to the virgin media website

any help greatly appreciated

Re: Email problems

I think you may have just one problem. Are you a VM broadband customer and are your e-mail addresses linked to a current paid for broadband account? Because if not VM have most likely discovered the situation and locked you out. Next to go will be your e-mail client access. The rule is that only VM broadband customers have the right to use VM e-mail. Your symptoms are typical of a person who does not have that right.

Re: Email problems

Hi thanks for your reply yes i am a vm broadband customer. However i cancelled my old account and took over my wife's account when we got married and moved in together. I was told at the time they would move my details over. Perhaps it didnt happen? Do you know how i can go about linking my email to the account ive got?

Re: Email problems

You are right, it didn't happen and it is probably too late now because the closure process has started. You have two choices - neither of them great for you. The first is to phone in and deal with VM's CS agents. You need to explain that you need a move and transfer of your e-mail addresses to your present account. If they understand this you will find that all the e-mail addresses on your wife's current account will be wiped out and the contents of those accounts will also deleted forever. I don't envy your chances with phone support, however.

The second choice is to wait here for a VM Forum Team member to pick up this thread and take a look at the various addresses to see what is possible.  It is still a move and transfer job and it has to be done by the specialist VM e-mail team

And please remove the helpful answer tick - it means that your issue is solved, which it isn't and so is likely to get overlooked. If you want to say thanks then use kudos.

Re: Email problems

and while you wait -backup all your emails in case everything is shut down. You can't access your contacts list on webmail, but start saving them from the emails.

Re: Email problems

Hi keithjw,

Welcome to the community.

I would like to look in to having the email address transferred over. In order to do this I will need a few details so I have popped you a private message in to the purple envelope on the top right of the page.

Thanks
