That error message is something of a worry - quick question though, are you a current Virgin Media broadband customer? If you are then have you moved address since the email account was first set up?

Yes we are a Virgin Media broadband customer we moved to this address 5 years ago
My wife email worked ok until 7 days ago

I am sorry to hear that you have had some issues with your wife's email address.
Please could I ask, have you tried the reset password link? Whilst you probably haven't forgotten the password this will encourage the email address to reactivate.
