Yesterday my ntlworld e mail account was hacked. A fishing message was sent to everybody in my e mail address book. Anybody replying to my e mail was sent another message, asking them to buy an amazon gift voucher on my behalf for a relative who had died. VM blocked my e mail, i contacted them to report the breach, they changed my VM password, but my e mails no longer work. Contacting them today to explain the problem, said they would initalise a support ticket, and they would get back to me within 5 days! Anybody any suggestions how i can sirt this mess out. I am being bombarded with people asking me what's the e mail about. I am using a samsung tablet with up to date kaspersky security software, and tfa everywhere. These people who do this should be castrated or shot!😐

Agree that these miscreants should be harshly dealt with. The problem is catching them. Do you normally access your emails via the VM webmail page or via a third party app?
VM have recently changed the log in requirements for accessing VM Mail via third party apps.
If you change the password for the account in My Virgin Media > Account settings > Account details you will not be able to use the new password to access the account via an email client. Email client access now requires an app specific password which can be generated in the MyVM > Account Settings > Account details > Mailbox App password management

Thanks for the reply. I normally use the e mail icon in the samsung android app for day to day use . I cannot send or receive e mails via this app at the moment until virgin sort it it out from the e mail block. However i can access my e mail from my tablet by the a google search to VW, entering the new password i set up, then selecting the link to my e mails. I can see new e mails, and i can send an e mail, but the sent e mails don't seem to me there. I will see if it works better on my pc upstairs when i get the chance. Do you think it is really necessary to change my e mail address to a new one, or open another account?

If you have changed the email password in your My Virgin Media account you will definitely need to set up an app password as explained in my previous post. This app password can then be used to access the emails via 3rd party email apps such as on your android device.
