Cant send outgoing emails

LyndonJ
On our wavelength

Hi

Can anyone assist please, since 28th of January my outgoing mails has stopped. I entered my Virgin IP address into spamhaus and they can back to say it's been blocked at port 25 because spoof emails. This hasn't been done by me and they have suggested that I have been unlucky and been given a previously blocked IP address.

Help!!

Many thanks

Lyndon

Forgot add, this is the message I get when trying to send emails.

525 5.7.13 Authentication denied (VM305)

@LyndonJ Unfortunately the VM305 error gets reported regularly on this forum and results from a device connected to your home network hosting some sort of malware that is sending out spam emails.

Common culprits have been 'free TV apps' added to Firesticks, use of the free Hola VPN, compromised CCTV cameras etc.

Hi Graham

Thanks for your reply, after investigating I'm starting to understand that, any ideas of a fix

Think about what devices are connected to your home network and what you may have installed on them perhaps by side loading.

If possible factory reset any suspects.

There is a complicated way to isolate the culprit using wireshark.  I will post the link when I have found it.

Hey there @LyndonJ, thanks for reaching out to us on the Virgin Media forums.

I'm sorry to hear about the issues with the email 😞
Please can you run a virus scan on all devices and then attempt to reset the password and this will give access to the email.
Let us know how it goes.

Kind regards,
Ilyas.

Hi

As said on earlier message, not sure what has gone wrong but after resetting hub and my own routers, even though it didn't work straight away, yesterday afternoon my internet speed went from 400ish mbs to 50mbs and then my emails started to send, then over a two hour period my internet speed started to increase back to somekind of normal. It's now at 350ish even though I pay for 600.

Hi LyndonJ, thanks for posting.

Sorry to hear you've been having issues with your broadband speed and outbound emails.  Reading your most recent post, do you now feel the issue has been resolved/resolved itself?  Please do get back to us, if this is not the case.  I can see you're currently liaising with my colleague Travis. If you need to raise the issues on this thread, please do so with him.

Regards
