I have experienced this many times and have never had a successful solution
I use Microsoft outlook and although I can recieve emails I cannot send - they simply sit in my outbox.
Should I be using different outbox settings?
I use smtp.virginmedia.com
port 465
SSL/TLS
can anybody help please

@tonyfromenglnad It is likely to be due to the low number of emails sent per hour/per day allowed by VM when using an email client to send emails from abroad. The limits vary depending on the country and are not published as they form part of VM's defences against their servers being used for sending spam.
Whilst not as convenient you should find that you are able to send the emails via the VM webmail portal as the limits do not apply to that route.
