The force is strong this December as the launch of Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits the silver screen. As the big man loads up his sleigh, we take a look at 5 of the tech-toys in demand this Christmas.

First up, Meet BB-8™ - the app-enabled Droid™ whose movements and personality are as authentic as they are advanced. Created by Sphero as a development of their classic bot, BB-8 comes to life as your very own programable droid. It's hard not to love BB-8 and if you're looking for a cool gift for kids with the benefit of helping them learn simple coding principles then this is the driod you're looking for.

Lego & Star Wars have been collaborating for a number of years with some pieces becoming incredibly collectable. Lego has been linked with education with praise for all sorts of benefits, notably helping with maths and spatial awareness. That said it's pure fun too, with such a huge range of Star Wars Lego kits it's hard to chose just one, but Poe's X-wing is our favourite and you'll still get your BB-8 fix in the form of one of the cutest mini-figures ever.

Ever wanted to test your Jedi skills? The Force Trainer II will test you to your limits. part of Uncle Milton's Star Wars Science range, the product's makers claim it will train you to "move holograms with your mind and develop powers of concentration." Check out their video to see why it made the list...

Visit a galaxy far far away from your bedroom with another from Star Wars Science... The Death Star Planetarium kit beams both The Galaxy along with the Milky Way and doubles up as an explosive night light. A great way to teach kids about the stars around us and a must for those into astronomy.

Last but by no means least, Star Wars Bladebuilders. Light sabre kits have come a long way from the painted wooden broom-handle of the late 70s. Bladebuilders’ Jedi Master kit from Hasbro give kids (or cool parents) 100+ combinations to design and build their ultimate tool, with light and sound it’s definitely got the whom factor.
