Hi

First post on the Community.

Had Broadband & phone package installed 2 weeks ago would have posted earlier but took 2 weeks to get a verification email.

Can you tell me if it's normal to receive a secondhand Hub?

The one I received is full of scratches and scrapes.

Never had this before when signing up for a new ISP.

Yes, VM does recycle hubs. VM's recycling processes, before the hubs are reissued, do sometimes seem to allow some very 'tired' devices to be reissued.

Aside from appearance, does it work as expected/required?

They are open about reusing kit and I suppose it makes some environmental (and economic) sense https://www.virginmedia.com/help/return-or-recycle-equipment

As mentioned above you should still expect it to be safe to use and in good working order.

It's industry practice. There's a lot of BT exchange hubs out there.
