How will a double credit check affect me?

I went to sign up for Virgin Media online. I got past the credit check then realised I’d forgotten to add extra internet speed. I went back, made the amendment, and when I went to press ‘credit check’ a warning box came up saying it would do a second credit check and it could damage my credit rating.

I’ve spoke to someone on live chat who confirms a first credit check has been done, I passed, but it can’t be used as my first order was incomplete. If I want to join Virgin I will need another credit check.

Anyone know how much it will damage my credit rating? Tempted to just stay with SKY.

Hi there

Thanks for your post and welcome to the forums

Would you like me to arrange you a call back from a specialist who can run through the credit check situation in more detail? They're excellent and should be able to assist you with this.

Thanks

Christy

People do not have universal credit ratings, so you're worrying about nothing.

  • If there is nothing to worry about why do Virgin have a pop up box warning me that it could be an issue?

Probably because they don't understand how credit works.

And 2 checks from a utility company is not detrimental compared to 2 checks from a banking group.

You have nothing to worry about.
