series x download speeds being throttled

ive got 1gb virgin media fibre and a xbox series x

tried a number of things like resetting xbox etc

connection is fine wired, but not ideal in current setup

wirelessy im only getting maximum 150mb download, where my mobile phone is getting close to 800 right next to the xbox which is in the same room as the router with no obstructions

its never been like this before ive even been sent a new router so thats not even the cause of the issue, anyone got any ideas how to improve wireless speeds please?

tried changing DNS Settings and check NAT is open,

anyone got any other ideas please?

You can only compare your mobile to the X Box when both are running the identical speed test and they are both connected in the exact same way.

Try with this link on both :

    https://www.samknows.com/realspeed/

Once the test begins click on: Run full test to include: Latency, Jitter, Packet loss & Upload speed

  • Hey Quinny

Had this issue before turned out it was obstruction and I switched to wired. The xbox servers can be a bit unreliable as well which can cause slow downloads. Also make sure your xbox is connected to the 5ghz connection and not connected to the 2.4 (pretty sure this should be default). I believe there's also a setting that you can change as follows

    1. Select Advanced settings in the Network settings menu.
    2. Choose QoS tagging settings from this menu.
    3. Select DSCP Tagging Enabled and WMM Tagging Enabled.
    4. Press Apply.
    5. Restart your Xbox Series X for the changes to take effect.

Might help might not but these are the bits I messed about with before just sticking to wired.

What's the connection speed displayed under 'Connected Devices' in the HUB settings?
