What is going on with Virgin Email Addresses?

What’s going on with Virginmedia.com email addresses. One of my email accounts is blocked and customer service has just advised that Virgin are no longer supporting email and are closing accounts.

Anyone else experiencing similar problems and does anyone know whether it is true that Virgin are shutting down their email addresses?

 

  • I have had 3 blue yonder email addresses for over 30 years. 2 weeks ago one of them just stopped and has now disappeared from the VM webmail site. I have spent over 5 hours talking them and still no emails

    the person I spoke to on the most recent occasion suggested that I move all my email traffic to gmail or iCloud as virgin will be shutting them all down ‘soon’.

    fortunate, as I do have a gmail and an iCloud address, but it’s such a faff to move everybody I know over.

    whistleblower or disgruntled employee or what?

    the only advantage to them is that they tie people into virgins other services

      Can you confirm if the email address concerned was tied to an active broadband account?

        Everyone is piling on to the original post here.  This needs to be stopped and people enouraged to start their own threads IMHO.  While each person might indeed be having the same problem, they are still unique to that individual.

        The only persons problem that should be looked at in this thread is IanC1 

        When people start piling in with their own problems it just leads to confusion.

        When everyone posts their own thread and the only replies are either questions or solutions to the OP, the forum can work so much better.

    Sorry to hear you're having some issues accessing your email account.

    Can you confirm if you've tried the below👉

    • Sign in to My Virgin Media

    • Go to Account settings, then Account details

    • Tap Manage next to Manage your Virgin Media Mail app password under Virgin Media Mail

    • Then, under Virgin Media Mail app password tap Get password

    • Continue the flow and a new secure password will be generated, and the mailbox unlocked

    • Update any third-party apps that may be use to access your Virgin Media Mail emails with this new app password.

    IainC1  The only official statement from Virgin Media is that since May 2022  new VM customers  are not given a Virgin Media email address.  Existing broadband customers are not able to add new VM email addresses since that date.  VM said that existing customer email addresses would continue to be supported.  

    However, in the ensuing time period they have made a number of security improvements which may impact on the way you access your email address.

    Can you expand on how your email address is being blocked?

      Same here!!  I've had two email accounts both running great for over 5 years.  Then all of a sudden I can hardly access both of them

      The changes in security have driven me mad, spent an hour on the phone trying to sort out the mess which hasn't worked and not I can access the accounts as it won't accept the passwords.

      I hadn't heard a single word about Virgin stopping the current emails and at the moment I've got to sort out a complete mess without being able to access anything.

      Where's Sky's phone number!!

        We're sorry to hear you've had some issues sorting out some changes to your email accounts. 

        Just to clarify, Virgin Media are not stopping access to those email addresses connected to an active broadband account. We're only removing email addresses that are connected to an account that is no longer access. This is as per the terms and conditions of the email side of things. 

        So we can help you resolve things, I'll need to confirm some information with you to pass security. I've sent you a direct message to allow us to do this with you in a private space. If you're using a PC/Laptop then you can just click on the little ✉ at the top right-hand side of the page to access your inbox. If you're on a mobile/tablet device then instead, click on the little circle icon in the top right then select 'Messages'. 😊
