Hi - all of my e-mails (from my Inbox only) dated 12/Jan/2025 and older have gone missing from my live ntlworld mailbox. This is years of messages that have gone missing but, oddly, Sent Items and old messages I have moved to subfolders are still present. In my Inbox, I can only see e-mails dated 13/Jan/2025 or newer.
I am a current member of VM (TV, telephone, broadband all through VM) - can anyone assist?

That doesn't sound good. You might find that a VM person will offer to help, but VM doesn't keep backups of emails so they will be limited in what they can do.
I've got no filters set and both my Spam and Trash folders are empty.
I think there was a glitch on the evening of 12/Jan/25 where I marked one Inbox message "As Spam", and later emptied the contents of my Spam folder; I had to do these actions twice since the spam-message stayed in my Inbox after the first mark / empty process.

This seems a very strange situation and as you have mentioned appears to be a glitch but unfortunately once they are gone there isn't anything we can do to get these back. Just out of interest, are they removed from the inbox across all devices with that particular mailbox on?

I've check webmail on two different PCs and via my Android smartphone (all Chrome) and those old messages (from Inbox only - multiple scroll-downs or pages worth) dated 12/01/2025 or older have all disappeared.
Using webmail, check that no filters have been set. Look in the junk/deleted folder.
If the emails are still missing then it looks like they have been lost. Do you have an offline backup?
