Just to confirm, the email is not connected as the primary username/access for a active broadband account at all?

No it is not, used to be a long time ago however I no longer used the email account and apparently is sending out spam email to the contacts now.

I have a similar issue. I have cancelled my virgin media over a year ago but the ntlworld email has remainded active and has today been hacked. Please could you help close down this email account.
