Why have I been billed for a new month, when my old contract hasn't ended?

My current contract was due to end on the 12th of January, but I negotiated a new contract on the 10th. I have since been billed for £81.20, which is far in excess of my previous agreement, why is this?

I have downgraded my contract to broadband only, so I am confused to why this extortionate amount has been billed to me. I know that my new contract does not start till February, but even so I was expecting any rise to be in around the £60 amount, not £80s!

The changes should be shown in detail on the new bill that has been issued.  You should see a section setting out what has changed since the last bill.
