Can't connect smart plugs

Wondering if anyone can help with my problem please. I used to have my VM hub 5 connected to a Netgear router to get the wifi signal all around the house. Smart plugs worked fine.  Long story s...

    Try temporarily turning off the 5GHz connection on the hub. Then try and link the smart plugs. If/when they connect, turn the 5GHz wifi back on again and see if they hold the connection still.

    In its default condition, the hub uses a combined SSID name on both 2.4 and 5 GHz. which can confuse some simple 2.4 GHz devices.

    The Hub 5 also uses the latest AX wifi standard which also seems to throw up a few issues when connecting non-AX devices.
