Forum Discussion
(I tried to edit the above to no avail):
Previously my tv (Samsung) and my soundbar (Sonos Beam) outputted Dolby atmos / 5.1.
Hi PluzzoSteve,
The edit function seems to have been removed, maybe one of the forum team can pick up on this.
Is the TV connected to your soundbar using HDMI eARC, and the 360 connected with HDMI cable V2.1 or newer and not connected to the soundbar or TV using an optical cable, I seem to remember having problems with a Samsung TV and some of the sound options being blanked out.
If you say which model Samsung you have that might help.

I have hdmi 2.1 cables and have swapped these around.
The TV has ARC (not eARC). Dolby 5.1 / atmos is shown in the Sonos app when playing the very same title via Firestick 4k Max vs Virgin box which shows Stereo PCM.
When on Firestick the ‘expert settings’ allows me to choose various Dolby options and the sound is noticeably better. When tuned to Virgin I can only select PCM (although I can toggle Dolby atmos separately).
I have a Samsung UE43RU7100KXXU which is a basic set by todays standards but I used to have atmos through Virgin V6 and now with the upgraded 360 I can’t.

Hi PluzzoSteve,
You need the 360 set to follow content for Dolby Atmos and it's generally only on TNT Sports Ultimate and Sky Sports UHD channels, availability on the apps content varies.
Is it only certain TV channels that say PCM, from a quick check on my LG TV all the BBC channels, channel 4 and 5 say Dolby Digital all the ITV channels say PCM, haven't checked all the others.

Thanks for the reply.
I can only get PCM to show in the Sonos app when using 360. Regardless of any channel. However, when I toggle between ‘follow content’ and the other options in the 360’s settings there is a noticeable difference in sound. I’ve just no way of knowing for sure without the app telling me?
The other sources (Firestick) show as Dolby in the Sonos app regardless of what app I’m using.
I’m pretty sure that all V6 channels showed as Dolby in the Sonos app but there’s no way back to check for sure now.
I have found a thread on a Samsung forum which suggests updating the firmware via USB. I’ll try that but beyond this I’m at a loss.
