TV360

Hi, what’s happened to the excellent wishlist search tool provided under previous version?

    Post moved to new thread.

    I presume you've just moved from TiVo/V6 to TV360. Check if you're not sure - https://www.virginmedia.com/care/tv-fault/which-tv-box

TiVo & V6 boxes run TiVo-software, TV360 boxes run Horizon software, the two are fundamentally different with wide variations in functionality. The wishlist feature you refer to, is something TiVo offers which TV360 doesn't. TV360 has a search function which attempts to do a broadly similar thing, in a very different way.

  • I have just moved to TV360. The previous wishlist search tool enabled users to set up individual words for searching on future content such as names of rare movies. This type of search does not appear to be available any more?

On the 360, the 'watchlist' function is where you bookmark your shows for later viewing. When you search for a programme or click the show from the guide, if it is available on demand, the 'watchlist' option appears next to the record option.
You can search for something using voice (e.g. ‘Movies with John Wayne’) select the item you want, then press the contextual key (3 dots) on your 360 remote.  This brings up a sub menu. Info and Add to Watch list. Highlight Add to Watch list and press OK.
If you want to remove it from your watchlist then press the Home button and scroll down to Watchlist. Then highlight the program and press the contextual key and select Remove from Watchlist and press OK.

Also although Netflix search isn't integrated into the TV360 search, you can however still search for Netflix content on your Virgin TV 360.
Select the Search icon from any full screen menu and then enter your Search term using the on-screen keyboard. Press the back button on your remote and then press right to highlight the “All” filter. Press OK and select Netflix. It only shows Netflix items and immediately launches the Netflix app when selecting a result. This method also works on the VM Stream box,

A classic example of where TiVo/V6 & TV360 are different.

Watchlist, as described above, is a search function with an option to create bookmarks. TiVo/V6 has a bookmarking function separately, but has the wishlist search which can also create quasi-series-links.

Coming at things from completely different angles...

The rather excellent and powerful Wishlist feature is patented by TiVo, which is why it, and many other features (such as skip back on fast-forward, quickplay etc.), are not available on the 360. Other features such as un-delete are not patented, they just haven't bothered to add them.

As has been mentioned, 360 does have search and watchlist (as did TiVo\V6) but they are in no way a replacement, or even really comparable.
