Downgrading back from 360 to a V6 box

Our old V6 box recently suffered a hardware failure, so a Virgin engineer took it away and replaced it with a new V7 box.

My mother is elderly and she is struggling to learn the new TV360 interface of the new V7 box; she would like to have it replaced with a V6 box so she can go back to using the old familair interface.

Has anyone here had any success in doing this? We consider this to be an Accessiblity issue and we are out of contract so considering alternatives.

  • Thanks to everyone who replied! Some good advice here.

We weren't offered a V6 replacement, and I was planning on making the provision of one a condition for contract renewal as we had been discussing signing on with Virgin again when the fault occured.

I did not know about the TV Box Pro, so thats another option I'll consider in addition to Sky.

I'll give Virgin a call this week and see how i get on.

V6 boxes diagnosed faulty should be replaced with V6 as a matter of course. A conversion from V6 > TV360 should be done, at the very least, in understanding that you are not using TiVo any longer.

If your mother was not advised of this, and there was no mention of the change of TV platform, then something has gone awry and you would seem to have valid cause for complaint.

You may have to be persistent here, and you will need to bear in mind that the TiVo-software platform is not available from any other UK TV provider.

The nearest thing you will get to the V6 box is the TV Box Pro that comes with EE broadband.

A few have managed to revert, but VMs usual response in 'computer says no'. However the advantage you have is that you are out of contract. If they want you to sign a new one, make ot conditional on you getting a V6 box - contracts work both ways. If they won't then take your business elsewhere.
