360 is ... DO NOT UPGRADE

What a mistake to make upgrade to our best tv360, I have had it 2 days and its going out the window i want my old reliable system back, home screen very slow to load recordings failing to play halfway through no time step button to quickly move through programs is the 360 box better or is it only the tivo v6 boxes that have this problem  other problems upstairs cannot connect to the box downstairs i am fuming will definitely be looking for a new supplier if not sorted..

  • Firstly, I will be leaving Virgin at the end of my contract due to unresoved complaint, BUT We change over to TV360 and had no problem whatsoever, It is quick responsive user friendly, Voice controlled  ie say Netflix and it pops up say go back 10s and zoom you go back, press Guide button and it pops up press 1 it goes to the start, we of course had to set up all our recordings but that was easy from search etc and we now have everthing back my wife likes Watch from Live so even if you are recording  a programme go to Guide click the programme button and click watch Live, perect, and picture quality has improved and it was great before. I understand others say they have had probems but my wife and I are very impressed and we are 72/74 years old my wife can even work the remote now without my help winner winner sunday dinner. Just a shame we have to wait 90 mins on a chat site 3 days in a row get answers to questions that do not match what we are saying continualy stating they have been unable to contact us BUT here they are on an email contacting us. So with regret it will be goodbye from us.

How did you set up the recordings for programs that weren't on in the next week or so? The 360 only lets you set up recordings or series links for programs that are currently in the TV guide, whereas the V6\TiVo would let you set up series links for programs without upcoming episodes.

  • Hi there Koppykat

Thank you so much for your post and welcome to the community forums, it's great to have you here.

I am so sorry that you have faced this issue with your service and thank you to our community team for their help so far.

I can see that you have mentioned you are experiencing some issues with your recording feature. I am very sorry that this has happened! Can I ask to clarify, are the recordings only playing half way though then stopping? If so do you get an error message?

It's not an upgrade, it's a migration to a totally different platform that is the property of Virgin's parent company (a far bigger international cable operator). It's similar to going from Andriod to Apple iOS, some things work better than others. If the migration was voluntary then you are stuck with it.

  • As well as those issues you also lose the following features; Wishlists (where you can set the box to record programs on certain subjects or featuring certain people), undelete, series link+, series link manager, suggestions, setting of series links for programs not in the current TV guide, ethernet control, keyboard support via USB, switching between tuners with constant buffering, skip-back on fast-forward, quickplay, default recording options, cancelling individual recordings from a series link, multi-channel series links, radio channels allowing recording of radio, separation of recordings between boxes, watching recordings when internet is not available and probably a few others I've forgotten.

Also, extra boxes do not have their own hard disks or tuners (unless converted from a V6 box), so you lose storage space and recording ability and are also reliant on the main box being on to watch and set recordings and also on having a decent wi-fi signal (or ethernet cable) between the two boxes when watching recordings.

        No, you don't.

Possibly you're thinking of Watchlist, where you can bookmark on demand programs.

Wishlist is a feature that lets you enter search parameters, such as an actor, subject, program name etc. and the box will automatically record programs featuring them, including for instance, a chat show if the actor appears etc. You can even do fairly complex searches with exclusion keywords, i.e. anything with James May except Top Gear (so you're not constantly recording Dave).

You can set up a bunch of wishlists and the box will remember them and automatically record in the future, so it's quite a powerful way of catching programs of interest that you may otherwise have easily missed. It is however a patented TiVo feature.

One thing at a time do you mean no fast forward or rewind when watching live TV or recordings, try pressing the << and >> , if you just want to skip back 10 seconds and forward 30 seconds press < and > next to the OK button.

I would assume they mean the 15/30 minute increment markers that you can skip to when fast-forwarding on the V6\TiVo, which I believe are not present on the 360.

        Hi Tavis75,

Can't remember all these features that I possibly didn't use much or just took for granted after using 360 for 5 years you just use what you have. I guess if you know what this skip feature is called you will probably find it on TiVo's patent list.

You can always use the 360's voice control to skip forwards or rewind but not everyone likes using that, I don't use it I much prefer pressing buttons.
