Try uninstalling the Wi-Fi adapter, restart the laptop, and let Windows re-install.

Just a quick question to see if you followed the advice above from carl_pearce
It does indeed sound like the fault lies with your WiFi adapter if all the other devices are connected okay after switching hubs.
