More than one ntlworld email address

Many years ago I had 2 broadband accounts for 2 houses. The accounts were not created at the same time.

My 'primary' ntlworld email address was associated with one of them and I had to create a second ntlworld address to manage the second account (don't remember why I couldn't manage both using the same email address).

Several years ago, the account linked to my primary email address was closed but I was (and still am) able to access the email via the web interface.

I have now created a gmail account but I am unable to import all the emails from my primary account, I am getting authentication errors.

I have seen some messages that say that I need to generate an 'app password' so that gmail can connect and import all the emails/folders.

What do I need to do to enable this?

Info on generating the app password is here

(new forum setup is not allowing me to paste a functioning link, just the text for the link)

      Hi goslow,

      thanks for the quick reply.

The issue is that I am unable to access the old Virginmedia account that was linked to the primary email address.

I've forgotten the password for the original Virginmedia account.

When I try to log in to the account using the primary email address and select the 'Forgot password' link, I can go all the way through to the point where I can specify a new password.

When I click the 'Confirm' button, I get a response showing the Virginmedia logo and the words 'Request in progress' but it never completes.

It seems to me that the 'old' account is still present but maybe it has just been deactivated?

Hi oran123 thanks for your post although we're sorry to hear of your concerns regarding your email.

So firstly, what we need to identify here is that are you still an existing Virgin Media customer, or is this an account that is attached to a former account because if so, this will explain why you're not able to access it.

To explain further, in line with our T+C's old Virgin Media owned email addresses are closed anytime after 90 days following disconnection of the account.

        Please let us know.

        Many thanks
