Hi peoplesthis has been here a good long while..are you saying I might not need that white square thing any more? I don't have connection problems I'm in know way clever enough to cut this down would virgin media come out to take the excess off? Thanks

How long has that been thereine that? You have an amplified splitter to help with poor signal. Trouble is, when things like snr or power levels change over time,these can end up being trouble and should then be removed. Without going into stats if your modem, if your TV picture is t breaking up or your internet speed is as expected, then it's probably fine to leave as it manifests itself usually as one of those.
With regards to the cables, any unused ones can be unscrewed and removed if any. Othan that Amazon or eBay for cable trunking or cable tidy but the splitter could be mounted on skirting board.

You could use a cable management box

or screwing the splitter to the wall might help make it look a bit neater. If you search for

on somewhere like Amazon, you'll find all manner of tools and materials to deal with untidy cables.
