All the Hub 3s and below would abruptly stop working as they've no 3.1 support.

Many of the set top boxes sharing a home with those Hub 3s would lose channels and interactive functionality as they rely on the Hub. Any that use their own DoCSIS tuners would go offline: 3.0 is backwards compatible with 2.0, 1.1 and 1.0, 3.1 isn't.

Even if you did this you still wouldn't get more than maybe 200 Mbit/s upload speeds as you still need extensive network upgrades to go higher on the upload.

If it were this easy they'd be doing it.
