wifi on smart tv

I have just purchased a smart Tv and use Virgin V+ the TV connects to my router vir wifi, but the down load speed on wifi is only 5mb, where the computer is connected direct it is 30 mb. How can I improve the connection to the internet to download films ?

what make and model of router do you have?
