i have the virgin media hub. doesnt seem very reliable!!! have to keep turning off the wireless and putting it back on again. Am i entitled to ask for a super hub? please advise!! kids are going mad!!

Haaa, so it isn't an isolated problem as i was told yesterday by a tech on virginmedia/remotechat. I am channel hopping on my modem up to 25 times a day! The wireless signal in the bedroom only feet up the hall from the modem alternates between 1 and 4 bars at all times of the day. It really is as much use as a chocolate teapot. I actually had to threaten to contact the executives office... AGAIN... until he agreed to send me out a new router to try.
I'd be much better trying to connect the HTC phone, I phone and xbox to wifi using the chocolate hobnob i have in hand!!

Having the same problem here aswell, I'm on the Netgear router that was supplied by Virgin, every so often it will just disconnect wirless but stay connected via cable only started about the same time as a few have said on here in December and its becoming increasingly annoying as it never used to do it before hand and also with the previous router I had

Can you try logging into the hub and changing the wireless channnel, it sounds like you have some wireless interference.

This is an old thread I know but if I read anything further about my problem I shall be completely gaga. I have a D link router. It it a DSL2640R and is years old. It is marginally better than the new Netgear sent me a month ago to replace the D Link because of the problems I was having. The Netgear one I cannot use at all. In exchange for this I had to sign a new contract for a year. The WORST thing I could have done. I have also invested in a Netgear booster but still my problems go on and on. I am dropped continually day and night. My grandson is here now and he is actually connected to next door's wifi because he is watching a film on his phone and my wifi is dropping him....how bazaar is that. I have a new Sky+HD box that I cannot connect to...the list goes on and on as does the phone calls. last one was 1 hour and 45 minutes, I have paid for a booster and technician, total cost £80 but no better I have had other technicians visit but they cant get to the bottom of it and blame Virgin. As you can tell I am at my wits end. Why can I not be on line for longer than 1/2 hour without having to disconnect from the internet and re connect. How stupid is this. I cannot open the webpage on here that shows me another solution to the many I have tried. VIRGIN SUCKS. if I could get out of this contract I would. to complicate the matter I am not techno minded and Virgin speaks to me in a language I dont understand in both meanings of the word. Before you ask no I dont have cable, we havent got it in our area it is just bog standard broadband.
p.s. I have been a customer since 2008 and NEVER have I had this problem till 6 months ago,,,,,,,,,,does Virgin want to know.... yea you got it in one NO.

hi. what i ended up doing , and it works great is this.
i set the superhub to modem only mode.
i bought a asus router RTN66U ( quite expensive but worth it)
then i use this to send the wifi signal round the house. hasnt dropped out since!

Thanks very much for the info but I dont have a Superhub whatever that is and I am not prepared to spend another penny to make something work that I have been supplied with
