Okey-dokey

Ignore my previous 'blank' LOL

Sorry to be a bit thick, but do I do the above WITH or WITHOUT the router connected?

Hi mate,

C:\Documents and Settings\(MY USERNAME)>ipconfig /release

Windows IP Configuration

Ethernet adapter Cisco 2100 Cable Modem:

        Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . :

        Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 0.0.0.0
        Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :

C:\Documents and Settings\(MY USERNAME)>ipconfig /renew

Now with router connected:

C:\Documents and Settings\(MY USERNAME)>ipconfig /renew

since it should say Ethernet since i think your dlink has an issue trying to talk via that coverter, since it need a Ethernet controller to talk to. so i would use your cable modem and download the drivers from the belkin site for you NIC (network interface card) since im puzzled on what to suggest. ive drawn a blank on this 1.

http://en-us-support.belkin.com/app/product/list/q/network-adapters source for drivers.

Re: Cisco 2100 Modem works, D-Link DIR-615 don't. HELP!

Sorry mate, been away for 2 weeks

I downloaded updated drivers for the Belkin NIC, but WinXP still can't start the device, so am stuck with the only choice of using the USB/Ethernet adaptor and have given-up on the wireless router option.

If I ever get round to doing a system reinstall for whatever reason, perhaps i'll install the NIC first and see what happens, but until then...!

Thanks for your help anyway mate, appreciate it
