Re: transferring from V+ to external hard drive or PC

you can't just transfer them. you need some sort of video capture device and use the VCR scart output.

I am not sure on what other guidance someone can give apart from how to setup what Tony has recommended?

Re: transferring from V+ to external hard drive or PC

Hi noddy18,

Welcome to the community Smiley Happy

If you have a VCR/DVD recorder, as long as you have a scart connected from that device to your V+ box then to can record them that way.

Once the connection is setup, you then need to follow these steps:

V+ > V+ EXTRAS > COPY TO VCR/DVD > SELECT RECORDINGS YOU WANT TO COPY BY PRESSING YELLOW BUTTON. (You'll then see them pop onto the right hand side of the screen)

When you're happy with your selection, press PLAY on the V+ remote control and 'record' on your DVD/VCR recorder at the same time.

They will then record in real time.  So this process is best done when you're about to go out or over night.

I hope this helps if this option is available to you. Smiley Happy

Let me know how you get on, I'm here to help.

Better  still, get a HDD/DVD recorder, and copy to the HDD, rather than a VCR/DVD, you can then edit anything before committing it to DVD.

We won't have a Tivo, because of the numerous problems with them, so we use this system all the time, works a treat.

Just need to remember to get a HDD/DVD with a SCART as this won't work with HDMI sadly...

Re: transferring from V+ to external hard drive or PC

Look up Video for ever from iOn. it will allow you to convert the output from the scart to avi, divx or what ever. NO hdmi capture device will work due to HDCP.

Nothing wrong with Tivo. both my boxes work fine. V+HD uses old software and no doubt will be phased out at some point. The VHD boxes are capable of running tivo (non per version).

The TiVo and VHD both run a Linux core. only the VHD is then loading the OLD liberate platform using emulation.

Older boxes and the V+HD natively boot Liberate so are unable run the linux core the Tivo and VHD uses so in time will be phased out.

I have this device. You will need also a Scart to Phono Adaptor.

I use this for VCR transfer but the principle shgould be the same for V+ unless there's some HDCP encryption gotcha.

Someone else will know.
