purple box on screen as havnt paid bill

Hi I have told virgin I am unable to pay my bill until jan the 2nd, I appreciate this is overdue , but they know. is there anyway to which the purple box that keeps flashing around can be removed so I can at least watch bbc 2 and 2 , whilst I am waiting to pay

The only way you can achieve that is to plug an aerial in & switch your TV over to the freeview setting, and disconnect virgin until you can pay.
