Sorry to hear you're having trouble with your sound.
Here's a few things you can try:-
Do you get any sound issue when using another device connected to the TV, such as a DVD player or games console?

If it's working through the Xbox then we can rule out the TV speakers as the cause of the sound issues.
We're you able to do the other checks with the cables?
If you haven't done so already, a reboot may help although most issue with sound on the V+ box is usually down to the cabling.
