Why is not Your TV Channel not available on Virgin but is available on Both Sky and Freeview

Why does Virgin Media lag behind when adding new channels. Your TV channel is available on Freeview (channel 73), Sky and BT but not on Virgin. Will it be added.

Re: Why is not Your TV Channel not available on Virgin but is available on Both Sky and Freeview

What you have to bear in mind is there is a cost to the channel owner for every platform they join. With Freeview the channel pays for a slot on the DTT platform. This is automatically carried by BT, as it pays to "Piggy-back" onto Freeview services, which you receive through a conventional aerial. Free services on satellite are nothing to do with Sky. The channel owner pays the satellite operator direct, & can be distributed to the whole of Europe if they wish for one fee. Virgin is a closed system with no free content & only passes 45% of UK homes, making it quite an expensive platform to join for the potential audience size.

Yes it's annoying that VM viewers are still denied access to basic free-to-view channels like YourTV along with Spike, TruTV, Movie Mix, Movied4Men, etc

Yes well there's always been a toss-up about who should pay who when it comes to TV companies and cable/satellite providers

ie. should the TV companies pay the cable/satellite providers or vice versa?

the TV companies have to pay the content providers so think that the cable/satellite providers should pay them and the cable/satellite companies think that they should be payed for their services..... The way It all ends up is that it should all be payed for by the customers/public

Please take care when posting. This archive thread is from over a year ago when these channels were not available.

All of them have been added since.

maybe the thread should be purged then to avoid confusing people who don't get down to the helpful post that all the channels have since been added.

Which channels are available?  I certainly can't find Your to, or Encore, or Hochanda, or the Craft Channel, so which ones are now available?  Love to know!
