WE WANT PREMIER SPORTS HD

Where's the update on your company trying to purchase rights to the HD channel? This is available just as it is to Sky customers by subscription. The HD channel is offered at a premium price.
Given that it's subscription based and you already show it in SD why are you not pushing to obtain the only UK channel that covers ice hockey in HD?!?!
Have you ever tried watching one of the fastest sports in standard definition on a 65 inch TV? It's like watching while wearing glasses smeared in Vaseline.
I'm surely not the only one that's asked and I am seriously considering returning to Sky for TV once my contract ends if this situation is not resolved.
I'm already paying for both premier sports and the NHL gamecenter app (around £90 per year) which streams HD but because Premier sports shows an increasing amount of games in the UK compared to last year there are more blackedout games than last year meaning they're unnavaiable for 48hrs on the NHL app.
I'd like to watch them live.
I await your response.

Re: WE WANT PREMIER SPORTS HD

Seeing reports of people receiving letters from Virgin saying Premier Sports is increasing to £15.99 a month but no mention of an HD feed. That will mean VM customers paying even more for a SD feed where Sky customers pay £99.99 a year for a HD feed.

Surely a price increase it has to be going HD. If its staying SD they might as well send out details on how to move to Sky with the price increase letters.

Don't hold your breath mate it all comes down to £££ what it will cost VM to secure broadcast rights. And TBH having a rant on here will fall on dead ears.If you want to try and get an answer to your question try sending an email to VM H/o you will find an email address under the contact us section on VM main web page.

Re: WE WANT PREMIER SPORTS HD

I remember when Premier launched on VM, they were very tentative about how much income they would actually get. When you look at Sky Sports for instance, the ratio of TV customers adding Sky Sports with their packages on VM is considerably smaller, compared to those adding it on the Sky platform. You also have to consider that VM do not want differentiate between HD & non HD customers like Sky do, which would mean the introduction of the HD version would also likely be accompanied by a price increase whether you take HD or not.

We are in exactly the same situation with Box Nation, who recently launched an HD version of their premium channel.

Re: WE WANT PREMIER SPORTS HD

I've just moved over from Sky and was very disappointed to see there is no HD option for Premier Sports. As Misguidedwolf says HD makes ice hockey a lot easier to watch.

Not sure I follow the cost reasoning. Its a standalone channel at £9.99 a month or are VM paying a fixed price to Premier Sports then trying to shift as many subscriptions as possible to increase profit?

Speaking to Premier they seem very keen to offer HD on VM so it seems its down to VM not picking it up.

Re: WE WANT PREMIER SPORTS HD

The price on VM is £7.99 a month, not £9.99. That's the price it went up to on Sky when HD was added.

Re: WE WANT PREMIER SPORTS HD

My mistake, it is indeed £7.99 on VM. However on Sky it is £11.99 for SD and £12.99 for HD.

Still doesn't explain how VM would lose money by offering HD. I would happily pay £12.99 for HD but won't subscibe at all for SD.

Re: WE WANT PREMIER SPORTS HD

As I say VM have a policy of not differentiating between HD & non HD customers on pricing (this is something only Sky insist on), so SD customers on VM would see a price rise of £5 a month with nothing in return.

Re: WE WANT PREMIER SPORTS HD

I'm sorry but I call BS on the call. It's a subscription service, when I transferred over Virgin told me it wasn't a service they offered but was 'brokered' if you like between premiersports and themselves. As far as my bill is concerned I'm paying 7.99 per month for SD, sky charge slightly more but that gives you access to the premiersports online service which is in HD. As far as I understand it, obtaining the channel in HD, given that ITS THE ONLY CHANNEL IN THE UK THAT SHOWS ICE HOCKEY AS IT'S MAIN SPORT would encourage more people to move as it's a specialist channel and justifies differentiating between SD and HD, I already pay around £90 a year for the NHL gamecenter live package so I can follow my team, but with this increase in premiersports buying even more games from the NHL I have to either watch in SD or wait 48hrs to watch on the NHL channel.
People commenting on this that aren't I've hockey fans should try and watch some on YouTube to get an idea if the speed if there game, pucks (4" diameter) are shot at 100mph+ it's difficult enough in HD let alone SD, so how's about virgin put customers 1st and give then the choice seeing as it's a subscription not included in ANY tv package!
How's about all the community persons coming up with reasons why we can't get it out useless comments like don't hold your breath, come up with reasons how we can get this channel, who to contact etc?
I'll quite happily keep phoning till I get through to Richard Branson, I've got nothing better to do, I'm already lobbying UK Canucks fans through twitter and via Facebook to contact VM to obtain this channel, but obviously unless this is looked at by anyone other than forum types then this is a useless means of voicing our demand, I don't care if they want to charge £15 instead of the £12 paid by sky, I want the channel, if it works on my smart TV as a stand alone service then I'll cancel with virgin outright

Re: WE WANT PREMIER SPORTS HD

And in direct reply to your comment of virgin customers getting charged 5 pound for nothing, that's bull. Premier sports it's not offered as part of ANY virgin media package, it's a separate subscription you're charged for like a pay per view movie.

Re: WE WANT PREMIER SPORTS HD

Premier Sports is a standalone Premium Channel with a monthly subscription. Its not PPV. If VM sign a new deal with Premier for HD, as already stated, there will one subscription charge, whether you take HD or not. So anyone only receiving SD will pay the HD price.

BT Sports has this arrangement at the moment. Subscribers taking the standalone option (ie. not on XL) pay the HD price of £18 a month, whether or not they have the facility to watch HD.
