Virgin TV box not working after thunderstorms

Our second TV box, (standard box not TIVO), has ceased to function after last nights storms. Have tried the usual cold re-boot etc but it seems to be dead. It's only been fitted for six months will we get a replacement?

hi zebbo im sure your mistaken buy that there is no way this can be caused buy thunderstorms because the cables are covered underneath in other words there underground so interfirence buy picture is most possible unless your in different area sky tv can cause issues because there signal is outside on a dish but virgin tv doesnt cause issues with their cables jonni

I'm sorry to read about the TV services here and would like to help. I've been testing the connection and can see that the services are running well now.

Hi Jonathanlouis

It was the lightening that caused the fault but not via the signal cable. It had caused a power surge which had actually killed her TV not the Virgin box.

Luckily, all my stuff downstairs, including my Hi-Fi, all run off a mains regenerator which has in-built surge protection.

Yep, box is working fine, it seems it was the TV that got fried !
