Virgin Media losing television subscribers

"Virgin Media lost over 10,000 television subscribers in the United Kingdom in the third quarter. In the last three years it has lost over 50,000 television customers."

Not surprising really when they don't listen to customers and bury their heads in the sand when it comes to problems with Tivo. Clearly the Dolby Digital fault along with other issues well documented on this forum, isn't going to get fixed this year, if ever..

Re: Virgin Media losing television subscribers

A loss of 50,000 in a customer base of 5+ million sounds like normal "churn" of customers to me. It's 1% of the  subscriber base. The BT Sports fiasco will have caused some to drop the service, & there are a few more people dropping linear services in favour of OD internet services. The trend toward OD only internet services will continue, not just for VM but for other providers, which is no doubt why VM/Liberty Global see major investment in expanding broadband services as the priority.

Re: Virgin Media losing television subscribers

The big question is how many more customers will be lost after February ' s huge price rises that are being reported on various web sites.

Yes. But VM are just doing what their competitors are doing. Bundle prices always go up in February.

Re: Virgin Media losing television subscribers

I`m not surprised. I expect they`ll lose a load more over the years. People on low incomes, have only got so much money to spend on certain luxuries.  The biggest rip off is the landline charges. It must be the most expensive piece of cable going.  Get rid of the special offers to new customers. I must be subsidizing all these low price offers.
