V HD box replacement

Hi, 

I read that these boxes have now been phased out. will they be automatically replaced by Tivo? can customers request that the box be upgraded?

 Back again, they advised me it would cost £14.99 to replace the box. I'm a bit of a cheapskate so I'll wait until they start doing it free of charge.

For £14.99, I'd take the hit on the assumption that it's a self-install and you won't get charged for an installation.

Which box are you trying to replace, one of these?

Then as that's the current issue non-recording box, there is no replacement.

If you want a recording box then it constitutes an increase in service so there will be an associated charge for it.

Were you trying to replace one of these (which is being phased out), it may be a different matter:

Though as we've recently had someone mention on here that they're trying upgrading from a Pace V-box (which is well over a decade old), even that would have incurred a charge were they not changing package.

Most of the Pace V boxes were replaced automatically when a fault developed, usually with a Samsung 2110C V box. They are now replaced with a VHD. VM are now actively swapping out boxes when/if a customer renews their contract.

The thing is if you don't renew your contract ( & hence get new boxes in the process), your service prices will continue to esculate by far more that the £14.99 you would pay for upgrading the box anyway.
