Keeps doing this tried switching all equipment off and then back on with no change. Does it randomly as well. Had line tested etc and all is good. Fed up now as can't watch recordings or TV and when it does record it sometimes only does partials. Seems like HDD is on its way out. Shame can't take it out and test it on my PC I have specialist software check for dropped sectors etc. Thanks for any help.
even more of a shame they don't have diagnostics such as a drive test built in, that can be accessed on a menu somewhere.
(actually the standard tivo does have hard drive tests that can be accessed by doing weird things while it boots... not sure what would happen if you tried them on a virgin tivo.. although i expect nothing).
I expect you'll need a technician visit which will probably results in a machine swap.

I've run diagnostics on the box and I can see an issue with your Downstream Power levels that will need to be adjusted. I've checked out the hard drive too and everything is looking OK at the moment, although I'd still like a technician to check it out.
