when accessing recorded shows the TIVO appears to be taking its time starting with the spinning icon being displayed, this has only started recently.

Checking the account, your TiVo® stats are looking good and no issues are being detected.
Try rebooting the TiVo®. Turn it off for a good few minutes before turning back on at the mains.
