Shoddy TV and broadband.

Our virgin TV SERVICE is out and broadband also down. Phoned helpline apparently we're the only ones affected - so engineer coming tomorrow. So we have posted a message up on our Facebook community. Turns out other people in our area are affected too. Could it be that virgin are hiding systemic failures as individual problems? Trying to reach some uptime target are we? From the status page it looks like there are no (or minor problems).

It all depends on whether you were the first to report the problem and whether any of the others have done so. It always amazes me that people are slow/reluctant to report issues. On a number of occasions we have lost our water supply and we seem to be the only ones who bother to report it.

Until enough evidence is available to demonstrate that it is a wider problem then it is likely that it will be treated as an individual problem.

Nice to be able to post again, after their mistake (removed by the Censorship team).

Re: Shoddy TV and broadband.

We have a local Facebook group for people that live in the area. Others have reported issues and yet still on the status page there is some waffle about there being a problem with TV anywhere. Where broadband is up and so is Tv. Which is a crock.

Re: Shoddy TV and broadband.

Usually if an amplifier or local node goes down, it triggers a network alarm. In these circumstances area fault tickets can be logged to the system without engineers being physically "on the ground", or customers reporting the issue. If for some reason an alarm hasn't triggered, then customer fault reports must be relied on, & with it being the weekend & all fault calls going offshore, it could take a while for the issue to appear.
