Replecement of dead old box with V HD

My old style (non HD) box appears to have failed totally today, no sign of life whatsoever, have tried everything. I'm going to call 150 to report this. As I assume the box will need replacing, can I get an HD box to replace it, and if so will it cost me anything to do so? And will I need an engineer visit to install it?

Not necessarily. If the diagnostics confirm you need a new box and there is no other issue, then Virgin Media do send boxes out for self-install.

Yes, you would get a V HD box to replace your old SD V box as there are no SD V boxes left within Virgin Media (that aren't in customer's homes I mean).

As all fixes (when not you're fault) are covered as part of your subscription, then it shouldn't cost you anything.

Thanks for that. But would I need an engineer to come and install it? I'm so busy at the moment that it could be a week or two before I can be at home. I can still watch Freeview on the TV, so no hurry.
