Received a bill for 2 months period

Hi All

 

Have received a bill today asking for 2 months payment.  We missed the last payment as my wife was giving birth and our baby isn't very well, and I am self-employed and wasn't able to get to the bank on time to put the funds in to cover the payment, my problem is that as well as asking for the missed payment they are asking for the period between 26 Mar - 25 Apr, which will be paid by direct debit next month, I feel that this payment should not be paid as it will be paid on the direct debit next month.  i can't afford to pay 2 months in one go, just need to pay for the missed one, can anyone advise on this please as I have tried online chat, all operators are busy, and have been on hold with the phone for almost 10 mins now, any advice would be greatly welcomed
